Ok, I know this has been covered... I have some berry's bullets in 30-30 that cannot go above 1700FPS...I have read that 13 grain is safe. I have also read that 9 grains works great. My question is what is the COL you guys were using? Just stay below min and not hit max? I was just concerned about the pressure and the COL with red dot. I know trailboss will work better, but I have red dot.
Not using a filler. Yes, I know chrono it, test, but looking for input.

this seems to be great thread on it, plus the one archived on THR.

Meant to say 13 grains is not SAFE for 30-30 30-06 and higher, yes....

The 13.0 gr of Red Dot is "The Load" for military cartridges in the 30-06, 8mm Mauser, 7mm Mauser, .303 British and other higher pressure cartridges of similar capacity than the old 30-30 Winchester and is too much for it. Pressures of this load are not low pressure loads and are in the same level as full factory loads.

I am assuming you have 150gr Berry .30 caliber bullet as that is all they show on their website. See the Red Dot data from Lyman in the image from the 30-30 One Book Manual.

Thanks. That gives validity to the 9 grains. Will shoot some and let you guys know. Shooting out of a single shot and a JM marlin. (also a newer marlin I may try before I damage my JM :))

I would just toss these and go with my normal loads not restrictive to 1700FPS on the Berry's, but I have 250 of them and a ton of red dot. so.....thx

I use a lot of red dot for slow loads and plinkers. Important to remember, low velocity does not mean low pressure in this case!

In my 3030 I had good results at around 8g Red Dot if I remember correctly. Accuracy was quite good, and no leading with my cast GC bullets. I imagine your plated bullets will do well too!
