I have a Ruger Deerfield that I would like to put an inexpensive red dot on. Ruger has a propitiatory mount on it that will not accept these. Years ago I had a Mini 30 and the mount son it and the Deerfield were interchangeable. In fact the mount on the Deerfield now is the one that originally was on the 30. At that time I was able to purchase a replacement mount for the 30 that allowed weaver rings to be used. In the Sportsman's guide catalog I see a replacement for 223/30 Ranch rifles. Is the mounting system the same as it was on my mini 30 and my Deerfield or has the system changed over the years? In short would this mount fit on my Deerfield? I also emailed Ruger with this question but have not received an answer yet.
