No drilling or milling on the pistol at all . Can be removed and reinstalled with no loss of zero . Take it off , put the original grip panel on and you would never know a red dot was on it . Stainless .100 thick . I made the grip panel . I was thinking about checkering but the wood grain was so nice I couldn’t bring myself to do it .Personally I like to drill and mill but I thought some folks would like this . This can be made with basic tools .

That's pretty cool!

One question/observation: Most slide-mounted dots go well behind the ejection port (about where this one is or even further back). When the slide moves backwards, the sight gets pretty far from the ejection port. Most frame-mounted dots that I'm familiar with get mounted ahead of the ejection port. With your setup, does the spent brass hit the sight?

It does look interesting!
Pics of the other side with the slide locked back would be well received, if you have them.

Wasn’t a problem. If it was a Glock it might have been , but , no grip panel anyway . Glock’s eject in all directions. I’ve had brass bounce off my hat many times with a Glock . I slide mount on Glocks . 1911’s generally eject straight right . I have almost covered 1911 ports with no ejection problems . If the mount is on the right side as the C-More you want the mount covering the port or forward of the port . You would look at this 1911 and think it would be a problem but it spits them out to the right and slightly back in a nice little pile about 6 to 7 feet away . There is nothing new under the sun. Race gun shooters were doing that back in the 70's. Yours is very well executed, looks sturdy as heck.

Great work. Repeatable and removable is what we all seek in a mount and I imagine you saved your friend a pretty penny.

It sure is handy to be handy (and have tools!)
