I'm looking into attaching a red dot to my 1911 full size.
I've seen the Weigand and the B-Square models but was wondering if there are any more. I've tried the grip style and I don't like them. I don't mind drilling and tapping the pistol frame.

What type of red dot? Dawson Precision has several mounts that will accomodate just about any red dot.

I am using a C-More Serendipity that requires no mount on a 1911 type and like it very much, you may want to look into it as well.

I have a J-Point I like and it has held up well. I am interested to see the new Burris Fastfire sight. The Les Baer mount is nice also if you don't mind drilling and tapping your frame..:)

I do not see the mounts on Dawsons webpage. Where are they? I see two under Misc mounts. Not even mounts.

I don't care for the grip mounts either. My bullseye .45 has had an Ultradot mounted on the slide for over 15 years with no problem. I think it's on a Weaver mount. You may need to change the recoil spring or adjust your load to account for the extra weight on the slide.

Those Dawsons look good but they are twice the price of Weigand mnts and don't come with the Weaver mnt.
Is anyone using the B-Square? It looks like it uses the slide stop and maybe a threaded insert for the spring plug.

Do you have a weaver style mount dot sight already?

The C-More red dot sights that mount on the Dawsons are REAL good red dot sights. Bright, Crisp, ROUND, dot. I liked the one I had, but it went with the gun I sold. I loved the sight, but not the gun.

    hssmith,
I have a BSA reflex sight and a BSA red dot scope(20mm I think) now.
I'm looking at a BSA Pano Holographic Sight.

Aha, that limits the mounts you can use. Good luck in your search.
