Red Dot on GP100

Look at it this way. If a mount is made to work on your gun then yes it will work . I had a reddot on a dan wesson 20+ yearsa ago and just took it off. Red dot is now on a ruger 22. It does not take a expensive dot to do the job ,just one that has what your look'n for . Mine was a cheap 30 dollar dot way back then and it was a 1" scope. I have several different ones on different guns now. From one of the lowend hallo type to a couple 30mm sized scope. The hallo type has the choise of many different type of site pictures in it. Just look at as many as you can. Oh ya my dan wesson 357 with a 8" barrel would shoot under 3" at a hundred yards if useing a 6" black dot for a target. You could see a black ring around the dot for control. They do work great for hunting.

fiber optic red spot

"RV":

Please excuse my diversion.

However, I put a fiber optic front sight and an aperature rear sight on my four inch barrel GP100.

Certainly not a Red Dot, but it is picked up by my eyesight readily, the aperature does not obscure the sight picture as much as a notch type, and
for less money, less bulk, and perhaps more reliability I would recommend you consider that alternative.

I have not used the Red Dot, as you asked for, nor do I think the mechanical set up I mentioned would give you the longer range enhancement that
Hardluk1 describes.

For hunting, or other?

I haven't done it myself, but I saw a really nice looking picture of one recently. :cool: That mount for the 6" GP100 looks like it'd be pretty solid.

I had my GP 100 drilled and tapped and installed a Weigand mount, and installed a 1 inch Ultra-dot on mine.. Ultra-dot is what I use on all my handguns.
Looks and works great.

Can you possibly post a Pic?
