Satch, possibly something has come loose inside the sight. I bought a half dozen cheap "No Name" Red Dots a few years ago and the internal lens was loose in every one of them.
I don't recommend anything but I'll tell you what I do.
I own and have bought more Red Dot sights than probably most people on THR.
I have something over a dozen of them on pistols, rifles and shotguns. I have several brands but what I use the most is $30 BSA. I just recently bought six more because the model isn't being made anymore.
It's a matter of cost and what works.
For what one very high quality Red Dot costs, I can buy about 12 BSA sights.
Over the years I've had several Red Dot sights go bad. 2 Aimpoint, 2 Tasco, 1 BSA and a ATN that was junk from the day I bought it.
Of course you expect the quality of a $400 Aimpoint type sight to be 1st class, and it is. And you expect a $400 sight to hold up very well and as far as I know they do.
The surprise is (in my experience) the cheap BSA Red Dots hold up extremely well and holds zero as good as anything I've used.
Would I be upset if one of my cheap sights failed? Not really, but I've got several spares just in case.
I'm really suprised that something so cheap works so well but don't buy one because of me, for surely you will get the worst piece of junk BSA made in a month.
My good friend has a $$$ Aimpoint Red Dot that makes the BSA look like a cheap tincan. But will the Aimpoint put bullets on target better than the tincan? Nope.
A couple of my $30 BSA sights.
