I'm removing the factory rifle sights on my Remington 870 soon and replacing them with a bead sight instead. However I would like to have a good sight for shooting slugs still, hopefully one I could take on and off. I've been thinking about a receiver mount and putting one of those tiny Docter sights there, or a Burris Fastfire. I'm thinking either I'll have the receiver drilled and tapped for a rail or I'll somehow attach the sight itself straight to the receiver for the lowest mount. I've seen the Speed Bead and I don't think thats for me, I'd like a sturdy receiver mount.

What are your experiences with this? I don't like the rifle sights as they got in the way (also they are an eye sore) when I shot clays, but I also shoot slugs and there they are very usefull.

And as I mentioned I was also interested in finding pictures. Anyone got a similar setup, or just anyone with a reddot setup on their shotgun? I haven't had much luck on google finding good images so I was hoping

Might be a bit cheaper to just get a plain bead barrel - IIRC, you could find one of the mossberg barrels for under $100.00.. And you'd have two barrels! :D

Well I'm in Finland and a new barrel is a part that requires a license. So I'd rather avoid the hassle of that. And due to parts such as that requiring licensing there are no such cheap parts available in the way it's in the US.

I really want to get this barrel fixed because I like the config and I also got one of those retro bayonet lugs I want to fit on it. And I do like the idea of a red dot on my shotgun. I understand they are so easy to use that people shoot clays with them.

Try using Yahoo! instead of google, that's how I found this picture.
