If any use a Big Boss II I`d like some input on the press.

Is the priming set up worth the $$ . I presently use a Hornady hand tool for small primers & the Lee prime II (press mounted) for large.

Is die alignment with the ram acceptable??

Ram to frame tolerance ok ??

& is there ram camover ??

1 more : does the primer disposal system work ok ??

Thanks in advanced !!

I have had a ReddingBig Boss II for two years now. I bought it to replace my RCBS RC Jr.

The priming system is ok. On a scale of 1-10 it is a 7. It can be finnicky. Setting the spring tension on the primer cup can be a PITA but once it is set, you are good to go.

The ram to frame tolerance is very good. Do not set the linkage bolt too tight though or it will get stiff.

The ram alignment is spot on.

The primer disposal system is good. I taped a large Gatorade bottle to the leg of my bench. The vinyl primer hose dumps into it. It works well.

Yes, It CAMS over. In fact, it cams over alot. I have sized some behemoth cases for some friends and it was fine.

The Big Boss II is a great press. Yet, it is not as smooth as an older RCBS RC II or the like. I like it better than the new RC Supreme but the older RC's are smoother. The new RC Supreme has just as large or larger opening than the Big Boss II. Both the Big Boss II and the RC Supreme are larger than the older RC's.

Unless you are loading .375 H&H or 416 Rigby, an older RCBS RC is the best bet.

I agree with CodeFour on many of his comments. I can't comment in relation to RCBS as I only had a Lee Challenger Breechlock before the BBII. The spent primer system is one of the reasons I went with this model (I currently have a Hornady LnL AP for my progressive and LOVE that system). I use it for neck sizing and HATE spent primers flying everywhere (which the Lee did with a passion).

I've only had mine a few weeks, but am loving it.

The spent primer systems is one reason I'm looking at the Big Boss II for my next backup/case-prep press. Thanks for the question and the feedback.
