I was thinking of using a Redding 357 magnum competition seating die with my 357 Maximum loads. I know the sliding inner seating "sleeve" is ground very close to bullet diameter, and was wondering if it would tie up the die, if I used a cast bullet, knowing it is .001" bigger than a jacketed bullet. Does anyone use these with cast bullets? I wrote to Redding, but they never answered. Thanks-

If you use cast bullets, you will have to clean the seating die occasionally due to the lube buildup. The hornady seating die has a similar alignment sleeve, and optional micrometer adjustment screw, but it also has the ability to disassemble while still on the press for easy cleaning, without affecting the settings for crimp or seat (it can do both). Mine works great for 45 colt with cast bullets.
