I received a #03331 Pistol chamber for my Redding Powder measure, from MidwayUsa today. It was floating around loose along with some 380 carbide reloading dies and got dinged on the outside of the barrel. Anyone know if this affects the function? I do not want to bother with the return shipping, etc. if this is no big deal.

thanks,
Bill

Doesn't look bad. If the micrometer has full travel and there is no damage inside the barrel I wouldn't worry about it. However, if you are uncomfortable with the ding just return it. Will the ding affect form, fit or function? I doubt it but make sure the micrometer has full travel.

I agree with Ron, if the insert goes in the measure easily and the micrometer travels its full stroke, then things are ok.

If the ding keeps the insert from entering the measure, a light filing to remove the high spot would work but do not do this until you decide to keep the insert.

You might let Midway know about the poor packing. I have had similar problems with them in the past where items are floating freely around the shipping box. Midway seems to go in cycles on this.

Thanks Chuck,
I did call MidwayUSA and let 'em know about this. I also called Redding and they confirmed what you said. They also suggested I could insert the measure through the drum from the opposite side and likely remove the burr. In the end, it fit and knocked off the burr just from the proper reassembly. Thanks again...

Just take a fine-cut file + fine sandpaper and smooth it up before you scratch the drum too.
