All... I've done a lot of research on the subject and I feel that the redding t-7 turret press is the one I want to add along side my Hornaday LNL progressive. Is there anyone out there that has one for sale? Thanks

Have you looked at the Lyman All American 8? Same exact press with one more die station for a lot less money. I bought the Lyman to go along with my Dillon and I’m very impressed.

Thanks for the reply! I DID look at that press. One issue I saw was the primers not falling into the primer tray and falling on the floor. Also, the priming system isn't very reliable. Dis you have these issues?

The Redding T-7 is a good choice. I have one and use it to load my long range precision ammo. I have contemplated the slide-bar priming system upgrade for it for a long while but still havent done it.

I have the Boss II which handles the spent primers like they all should, into a bottle via tube, through the center of the ram. The auto feed primer system is a winner. I've been using it ever since I got my press. I added a second slide so I did not have to mess with setting the anvils height. The feed works flawlessly if you set the anvil to the proper height and do not let the spring loaded slide come crashing back. If it does it can flip a primer on it's side or upside down by the time you get it to load into the primer anvil/cup. If the height is not set right you will have problems getting the primers to feed.

I ordered the Lyman 8 hole turret press from Cabelas today. The price was the main point. With my card points I got the press for 90.00!! I'l just hand prime the cases instead of using the press. I really don't care for the primer tube to block my view and get in the way of the turret handle. I guess the redding t-7 would have that same problem. I want the press to do it's job and I think it will.

Don't get me wrong, the Lyman is a good press and will serve you well for decades. But when you compare features and overall quality, the Redding has it beat.
I believe that!! What got me was the price. I'm going to use the lyman for rifle reloading and my Hornady LNL for pistol and 223. The priming system I've watched over and over on videos and Im not impressed. That's why i'm hand priming. I'm also going to take it easy depriming so half of the spent primers don't end up on the floor!

I have not had any issues with my Lyman AA8 and I've loaded 100 rounds of 6.8 SPC on it so far. I have not have one single spent primer fall to the floor. I had a couple that didn't exit the inside of the ram, but I raised and lowered the ram an extra time and they both fell out into the cup. I also have not had any issues with the on-press priming system. It's very good in my opinion, WAY better than the Lee Safety Prime system I was using on my Classic Turret. I did notice that inside one of the primer pickup tubes, it had some debris that I had to poke out with a straightened metal hanger, but after I got that poked it, the tubes pick up and dispense primers without any issue.

And I never understood the complaints from some about the primer tube and priming system being directly in front of the ram. When reloading, I stand directly in front of the press so that my right hand is close to the press handle and I insert cases into the shell holder with my left hand. It's MUCH easier for me to actually index the shell holder at a 45 degree angle (somewhere between 7 and 8 o'clock) instead of being directly up and down. I can grab a case with my left hand and slide it in the shell holder at a 45 degree angle and I don't have to step to the side to get at the shell holder if it was directly up and down. The primer tube doesn't get in my way at all being in the front. And if you think a small blast shield tube blocks your vision of the case, you're a prima dona! Turn your head a slight bit and you can see around the primer tube! It's people who make complaints like that who I believe are just looking for a reason to justify the press they already have and try to find some kind, any kind of fault with another press. Redding owners and fan boys are really gonna get butt-hurt about this press. I've used a Redding before and this Lyman works almost exactly the same way, is just as well made, and costs a LOT less, but you'll have a hard time getting any Redding fans to admit that. Personally, I'm not brand loyal to anything. If it works, it works! If it's works at a cheaper price, then that's even better! I own Dillon, Lee, and now Lyman presses. They all have their pros and cons.

Congrats on your purchase! Get it bolted down to your bench tightly, and oil ALL of the linkage joints, the ram, and lightly coat the primer feed push lever and I'm sure your press will be as good as mine. I already bought another turret head for mine. Let us know how it works out for you!

I loaded rifle on the older orange version of that press for years and was very happy. It was sufficient for the time and my volumes, and it also made wonderful ammo.

Thanks for the reply, Olympus! My press should arrive tomorrow! I agree about reviews. It seems they want to find anything they can and hammer it to death. If I would have that concerned, I would have bought the t-7. They actually look identical! Cast iron is cast iron, I guess!! I TOTALLY agree about the price point. Another reason for the Lyman! I have a hard time justifying the cost difference when they perform the same way. I've never been brand loyal. I started with the green "jr" press in the early 70's. Then a rock crusher, then much later a lee turret, which I gave to a friend that helped me with some work. I currently have the Hornady LNL progressive and a Lyman t-mag and now, the v8. I'm going to sell the t-mag and just use the two remaining presses for what each one will specialize in! I'll let you know how things go with it!

Sounds like you have a setup similar to mine now. I have the Dillon 550 for doing bulk reloads, mostly pistol and I bought the AA8 for doing rifle calibers and between those two presses, I think I'm pretty much set now. I still have a single stage and the Classic Turret on a shelf that I could break out if needed, but I don't expect to be using them for quite a while.

I was curious and just looked up the sale at midway and checked out both. I had forgotten how much the Redding T7s usually sell for! I got mine a few years back on some ridiculous super sale I dont remember which website it was, but I do remeber also adding a coupon code I found on line. It ended up being 200$ shipped. That's what finally made me pull the trigger, because I was wanting one for quite while before then. I actually remember shortly after the purchase, talking to a guy in the Dillon store about them and seeing the look on his face when I told him how much I bought it for. Priceless.

Received my Lyman 8 turret press yesterday from Cabelas. Only two day delivery!! VERY nice press! Im glad I saved them $$ by purchasing this press!!
