I recently bought a used Stevens 110E in .30-06 from a local pawn and I have questions about the scope. It appears to be a Redfield Widefield 3-9 variable zoom with a accu-trac (not accu-range) range estimator. Its built well, but I have no idea how to use it. More specifically, the two "lines" above the cross hair. How do I use this to correctly judge distance? Lets say were shooting at a silhouette target at 300yards for context.

Ive also read some articles about the range "dials" going from A to D. What are these dials and how do I find what dial Ive got?

Well that link was more than helpful. Ive figured it out, but Im not sure which dial I have on my elevation turret. Ive rubbed away some camo and found the range numbers, but cant find any markings as to which dial it is. I'm assuming its either dial b or c. Where should I be looking?

Again, thanks for the help.

redfield accu-trac dials

if it has the tall target turret on it, remove the hex/torx screw in the center and gently pull off the cap. it will have a letter underneath...that is the dial letter.

Since it was a .30-06., it would likely have a "B" dial in it.
