Hodgen lists a reduced load of H4895 powder for target and plinking shooting. Unfortunately with the current shortages I am unable to buy H 4895 powder. Tried to ask Hodgen if they have any other data for other powder. No response.
Are there any published loads for other powders?

Been using IMR4350 with 90 and 105 grain bullets for eons.
What bullet weight are you loading? Light loads use light bullets. Other than The .243 isn't exactly a target cartridge, but depending on your rifling twist, a Sierra 70 grain Matchking would do nicely.

There has been data published for 4227, 4198, 4759 and Accurate 5744. Or you can use, or work down from, the start loads for 3031 or IMR 4895.

Thank you for the responses. I think I should clarify, my 11 year old grandson is small for his age. 60 lbs. soaking wet. Bought him a Savage youth rifle in 243 Win. Factory loads pounded the heck out of him. What I am looking for is reduced factory reload data for various powders so he can comfortably shoot his rifle. To complicate things, the current powder availability is somewhat limited so having multiple choices of powders gives me some options.

Haxby,
You indicate there has been data published for 4227,4198,4759 and Accurate 5744. Can you direct me to where this data is?

Rule3,
The info on Trail Boss is what I was looking for. Unfortunately can't seem to find any around here. (Sacramento Ca. Area)
Thanks

243winxb provided links to max loads with 4227, 4198, and 4759.
Speer #13 shows 17 gr IMR4198 with a 85 gr bullet, and 18 gr with a 100.
Hornady Third Edition shows a low of 16.8 gr SR 4759 with a 80 gr bullet.
I don't have any 5744 data handy. If you find some 5744, you could call Accurate.

That is one of the great features of Trail Boss and you do not even need data. Just follow the instructions on the link. As to availability, well that is the story for most any handgun powder, Search on line and pay the haz mat fee is about they only way, perhaps you can get lucky and buy another rifle powder to offset the fees. Good luck!

Also if you just Google " reduced 242 Winchester loads" There are may posts, threads of folks with the same situation. I have not read or used them.
