CZ 550 American Safari Magnum rifle - .458 Lott caliber.

Hand loads that enable me to comfortably shoot one of my favorite rifles at the range for prolonged periods and that produce consistently accurate paper target groups.

Shot standing at a covered rifle range, 25 yards, open (metallic) sights, using a modified camera stand rest under calm conditions (posed photo):

90 F temperature - bright sunshine at 25 yards. Bullet velocity measured using a ProChrono chronograph set at 15 feet from the barrel muzzle: 1171 fps average velocity (twenty shot string).

Reduced loads using 20 grains of Hodgdon IMR "Trail Boss" powder; Hornady 458 Lott seven times fired brass (full length resized); Remington bulk 405 grain SP jacketed bullets (uncrimped - no evidence of recoil set-back); CCI 200 large rifle primers:

The Remington 405 grain soft point bullets are relatively inexpensive. Recoil and muzzle blast are particularly mild with this load and accuracy is very good:

I also use Hodgdon IMR "Trail Boss" powder with 500 grain Hornady DGS bullets:

I also shoot my .458 Lott CZ 550 American Safari Magnum rifle at 50 yards from the bench using a Nikon "Buckmasters" 1x20 scope sight in Talley QD mounts/rings:

I need to set up my reloading equipment again and use some Trail Boss for my CZ 550 Am Safari Mag in itty bitty .375H&H.

Already love it for mild .357mag and .44mag.

How much drop are you getting beyond 25 yards? I've noticed a lot more bullet drop with TB loads in the 7.62x54R than in the .450 Marlin, which is the opposite of what I would have expected.
