Having had both of these rifles damaged in a fire several years back, I've finally gotten around to refinishing them. The stocks of both rifles, being composite, were a total loss. Not a bad thing since the tupperware that comes with them leaves a lot to be desired. The Browning Stalker stock being quite a bit better than the Savage Model 12. Thats not saying much since the original Savage stock was garbage. It still shot extremely well, just like most Savages. Replacement Bell and Carlson Medalist stocks in hand, I sandblasted all of the metal parts on both rifles and then proceeded with an airbrush a basecoat (after the pre-treatment) of KG Gunkote in McMillan Tan. That followed by several other colors with vegetation stencils to provide the depth and shadow, working light to dark colors. The final color being a VERY light fade of flat black with additional vegetation stencils in a few areas to provide full depth of field. I don't think the Boar or deer will see my Browning this year and the Woodchucks will not see the Savage poking out of the grass.
