Hello all. I just picked up a pristine Colt 1908 .25 ACP. I found a stash unprimed Brass and dies in my hoard. Looking for 50gr FMJ, but not finding any online. Does anyone have ideas where it can be purchased?

I'm satisfied to use Factory stuff, but I have spare time to load my own.

I have 2 boxes sitting on the shelf...You can have them for what I paid in 1980 plus the ride from Iowa. I'm at work now...Will let you know when I get home

RELOADING .25 ACP
Retrieving all of my .45acp cases from the lawn is a chore ... 9mm cases are worse ... .380 cases, as some wag once suggested, can be impossible to find when shooting on a clay tennis court ...

... I would not be at all surprised if I paid close attention to ejected .25acp cases and saw them just winking out of existence before they hit the ground. :what:

:)

I had been buying these but they appear to be out of production now:

Considered getting a mold and casting them but molds are hard to find too... guess nobody reloads for .25 ACP?

I have 2 Beretta Jetfire pistols and a Colt 1908 "vest pocket" and they're all great guns, would like to keep shooting them but factory .25 ammo is stupid-expensive for some reason...

Yes, discontinued and out of stock.

"...guess nobody reloads for .25 ACP?..." Very few do. Real issue is the near total lack of bullets. Even poor ones.
Midway lists one brand and it's on No Backorder. Graf's, on the other hand, shows Prvi 50 grain FMJ's at $13.79 per 100 with volume discounts available. Appears nobody else makes 'em.
50 grain Max loads run to tenths over 1 grain. Think you'd want a digital scale for that.

The last I looked 25 ACP components were getting hard to find.

A couple years ago when I got me 25 ACP pistols, I wourked to get cases and bullets. I also got a mold, RCBS if I remember correctly but I recently saw it was no longer inventoried.

I have not looked to see if the specialty mold makers will do a 25 ACP mold.

The last FMJ bullets I got were Magtech.

Ammunition seems to be available though.

Good luck.

I just loaded a few 25acp last week simply because I have all the stuff. I doubt that I'll be doing any in the near future, it was a total pain in the butt working with that tiny brass.

Midway has both 35 grain and 50 grain versions.

Titan has 50 grain Magtech bullets.

I wouldn't go overboard on supplies for .25 ACP. I've had a .25 ACP pistol for nearly fourty years and I've only put a couple of hundred rounds through it. I have 152 loaded 50 grain rounds, 23 loaded 35 grain rounds, and components for another 272 rounds and I expect that will be enough to last me for the rest of my life.

I reload .25acp. As others have mentioned, I wouldn't bother setting up a progressive press for it. o_O
I have some Speer projectiles, and the world's largest collection of once fired brass. It all fits in a one pound coffee can.:)
Someone was reloading them with shotgun shot. I think it was a #3 shot that fit. They'd dip the shot in Alox, then load it over one grain of Bullseye. Reported decent accuracy out to several feet, then none at all.:p

I like reloading 25acp. Over the years I kept my eyes open and bought brass & bullets until I accumulated a stash. Like hdwhit says, you only shoot a small number of rounds. So a good stash lasts forever. And doesn't take up much room, like dbmjr1 says.

Given the limited case capacity, I generally use compact powders like AA #2 and #5, Win 231 HP38, etc. They don't fill the case. Easy to charge without spillage. Hint: If you use a funnel to put the powder in the case, get the funnel for 17 caliber. You'll thank me for that. If the tiny case disappears inside the funnel spout, just cut the funnel shorter. Works like a charm.

25acp isn't highly accurate so load workup is easy, you aren't looking for National Match accuracy, it doesn't really matter if powder charge is perfect. Cases are simple to size and not picky about setup. I have two Colts and a Baby Browning, none are picky about OAL and they all feed and eject every time. It's not like larger calibers where you gotta make the gun cycle while striving for one-hole groups.

Single stage press is fine, I made a loading block from a piece of wood and drilled the holes only about 1/8" deep or less, and 2" apart so it's easy to grab the cases even with fat fingers. I can load a couple hundred in an evening and it lasts a couple years. Compared to factory ammo, it's cheap and easy.

Thanks all. I think a mould is in my future. I plan on the occasional reload just because I can....

Currently I am set up for about 40 different calibers, from .221 Fireball to .458 Win Mag. It's just a fun pastime to sit at the bench in front of a mountain view.

I'm not looking for National Match accuracy, I have 4 Gold Cups and 2 Pythons for that....

I was offered a set of Lee(?) dies for the .25 ACP for $10 because the reloader said that he hasn't used it in 15 years and doesn't think he will ever reload for it again.

I have a Bauer .25 Auto and I would like to reload for it. I have all the components except the cases. Can any of you point me in the right direction to get some.

Thanks..... Doc

It's hard to get, but here are a couple of places to try.

Graf's claims to have it: https://www.grafs.com/retail/catalog/product/productId/74057

As does a seller on Etsy: https://www.etsy.com/listing/467115...f812755d4f15&gclid=CIHn1M3FtNMCFUa5wAodbmsNXA

I last bought .25 ACP brass from MidwayUSA back about 1990. Recently when I went looking for it, it was hard to find and expensive. Right now, if I need more brass, I just buy loaded rounds, shoot them and reload.
