Greetings from a newbie. I recently purchased an M1 Garand service grade from the CMP. I would like to reload for the critter. I purchased some CCI #43 primers. I would like to use a 150 grain Sierra FMJ bullet with either a Federal or Remington case. I have been using IMR 4895 for my 1917 Enfield sporter which works well with about 47 grains of powder. Anybody got any comments on the above plan? I would appreciate any help I can get here.
Thanks for looking

Drop your charge a tad, 45g of 4895 should be fine. Assuming you are "playing" you can drop the charge to 43g of 4895.

37g of H335 is a good light load also.

45-47gr of IMR-4895 with a 150gr FMJ bullet is pretty standard.

My pet load is 47.0gr, which I also use for my 1903A3.

Thank for the information fellows. Any comments on the choice of brass?
I have been using Remington commercial 06 brass for years and it seems to work well in the bolt action on my 1917 Eddiestone sporter with the original barrel. I also like the Federal stuff, but Winchester seens a bit thin to me. Perhaps just my judgment.

I use Federal in my hunting bolt gun but a friend and I split a case of the HXP Greek ammo when we ordered our M1's last year. I collect and reload the Greek cases which are amazingly uniform in wieght and the appeared to be annealed.

Boxer primed . . good stuff. Last time I ordered from CMP I think it was $117 for 2 spam cans of 30-06 M2 Ball on Garand clips in bandoliers. (Delivered to my door)

Regards,
Dave

This worked for me when I used the Garand in local competition.

I loaded 47.2 gr of IMR 4895 behind pulldown USGI 152gr FMJ projectiles. Velocity in my Garand was right at 2750 on a 60° day. I used HXP greek cases--great brass and the primer pockets are only staked, not crimped, so removing them is easy.
