Hi All,

I have an M1 Garand with an adjustable gas plug. I am kinda plabergasted as to what to do to first. I am using IMR 4895 and 150 gr hornady sp interlock bullets. Any recommendations? Also does anyone know how this gas plug affects ballistics? Help would be appreciated by anyone who has wisdom and experience. I'm relatively new at reloading (just started within this year) so anything helps. Do i work up to the max load and adjust the gas plug once the max load has been found or do i work up to the max load and adjust at the same time? I am trying to preserve resources, so i am looking for the most efficient safe way possible.

Thanks

Generally speaking, the go-to recipe for the M1 is 47gr of 4895 under a 150gr bullet. I've certainly put hundreds through mine the past year. How it relates to the gas plug setting, I couldn't say.

Using IMR 4895 the adjustable gas plug is not needed. And as Chris stated 47 grs og IMR 4895 with a 150 gr. bullet is about as good as it gets gas presure and safe wise. Using IMR 4895 means you can put the orginal plug back in and forget it.
