Reloading for the Glock 10mm

Indeed!
In 1991 I got the first 1006 I could lay my hands on. It had the adjustable sights. I later put a set of the "FBI" palm swell grips on it.
What a gun! I killed several deer with it. Even got my NRA "distinguished" badge with it.
Needed something else, so I sold it for a handsome price....

In 1992, an aquaintance who had spent 18mos in Iraq/Kuwait with the 24MI running Sadaam out of Kuwait, came back and needed some cash for incurred expenses in his absence from the country.

I bought his G20. Took it out and intended to run through some left over ammo from the S&W. First round fired, but smoke emanated from the gun... odd, I thought.
Second round, uneventful, so I thought.
Third round.... OUCH ! OUCH! OUCH!..... magazine was laying on the ground, gun was smoking and I looked closely and the slide stop was sticking out at a funny angle and slide was locked back with case still on slide face....

All three cases had blown out case heads... Only the third one leaked gas sufficient to "get my attention"....

That particluar load was a book listed max for AA#7 and Hornady 200gr XTP in Norma cases at the time... It was a marvelous load in the 1006 and duplicated the original lot# of Norma at ~1,200fps.

Since then, the published max load has been reduced nearly 2.0gr to current level, solely due to the Glock Mod-20's....
This in my opinion is why the .40S&W took off, and the 10mm has languished.... the extra recoil and "only" 100-200fps advantage over the .40 makes it "moot"....
I've still got my "issue" M22... but don't shoot it much...
I prefer the .357mag or .44mag or .45lc in my revolvers; in my "retirement"....
I'm too old and arthritic to run down the "rare" 10mm cases. Besides, the "real 10mm loads" throw them 20ft+...

I have also taken an equal number of deer with the .40 and 155gr bullets (Sierra, Hornady, and Winchester factory 155gr Silver-tips. All at around 1,200fps). Works just as good as the 10mm for me.
That; and a relative of an aquaintance of mine got "jumped" by a ~500lb grizzly near the Copper River valley area of eastern Alaska. A magazine of .40 fmj later, the bear lay dead..... Worked that time, at least....

I altered my Glock 20 with a Wolf spring kit. That's it. I use max loads, but I don't exceed max loads and I never have experienced bulged cases!!!! I use new brass or once fired brass, only. My favorite "giddy-up" load used Power Pistol powder. Lots of wallop. Good Shooting!!!
