:neener:Got a boat load of .308 200gr and 220gr bullets and want to load em up for my saiga 308 my Hornady book only lists up to 180gr should i not be shooting this large of a bullet through a semi-auto. Got em on the cheap so cheap that i checked each and every one and happy to report all within 2gr and size all on the $$, The other reason i want to load em at our local gun show my Buddy and I got around 40lb of old powder $150 major score yeah I'm the guy your wife and kids come to with all your reloading stuff once your out hunting and aint looking. So dont repackage your powder. And if your local to the S.F.bay area i got some powder i will never use just a few pounds would trade or give. Thanx for the input.

I have a PSL and as soon as you mention heavy bullets around that gun, someone is always sure to jump in saying that you shouldn't shoot anything over 150gr. The reason for this is because the bolt starts moving very fast when launching those heavy bullets and it really slams into the rear trunnion. Its so bad that all of the rear rivets get bent and the holes their in start to elongate. Not to mention the damage to the rear trunnion itself and the bolt carrier.

Because the Saiga is based of an AK design, I would suspect that you would encounter the same problem. I have an adjustable gas block on my PSL which allows me to turn down the gas system so i can fire heavy bullets. I know there's a gas block like mine for the AK, maybe that would work on your gun. Check out the DEZ arms one and see if that would work. I also never liked the idea of one piece of metal stopping another, so i got one of those buffers that goes between the rear trunnion and the bolt carrier. Those really do a great job of taking the harsh vibrations out and make the gun just feel nicer.

Well Hell thats the most useful info i got in a long time kinda thought that may be the issue had a problem like that with my winchester 100 snapped the operating ear off one side tigged it up and treated it but ur right with an ak type system it may be a lil hard on it, Now i do and have shot a lot of 175gr fmjbt with no trouble yet and i do think i will look into some type of buffer and load the large in the 30-06 bolt action.
Thanx for the info
