I’ve just found 500 rounds of brass in my garage of 38 spl I have a 4 lbs jug of titegroup with maybe 3.5 lbs left, so that’s awesome. Just curious on primers I have about 900 6 1/2 primers that need to be used and 1200 or so Cci 550 but those are mainly for my 357 max and mags.
Biggest question is with titegroup charge around 4 grain 125 gr xtp can I use my 6.1/2 primers? shooting a s&w r8 performance center 357 mag or I have a Taurus 357 7 shot.

The Rem 6 1/2 primers are for the low pressure Hornet. So they are good to 30-45k psi. The 36 Spl is around 18k, so you should be good. I've used the 6 1/2 in my 357 mag loads.

4.5 grains shows 15.2k and the +p 5.0 is 18.2k. With the primer pressure limit listed you could run full house 357 at 35k.

I told my local gun store I wanted the small rifle primers they had in stock he put it in a box with the bullets I needed. I get home and realized he sold me 6 1/2 primers so now a headache of how to use them guessing they can’t be used for my grendel cause they specifically state not for 223. I seen they are usable for 357 just have gaps in my reloading book for jacketed bullets in 38 spl with titegroup just guessing on start point of 4 grains maybe a top at 5 grains unless someone can fill me in on the missing info

I would be using h110 w296 for my 357 mag/ max which those require the cci 550 that I spent to much on buying …..

From my info and from Hodgden, 6 1/2 primers are Only low pressure primers. They should be ONLY used for target type loads, like .38 Special. 125 gr XTP, Titegroup loading 4.3 to 4.6 grains.

Not trying to start an argument that really ends at why Remington made 6 1/2 as long as they did I just want to know if the 6 1/2 primers could be used with titegroup effectively and safely

No, they are unsafe and will eat your face. Send them to me for proper disposal;).

They should be absolutely fine. Not sure how they might affect your pressure curve, but sounds like you are shooting them in a .357 gun anyway so any increase due to a possibly hotter primer should be irrelevent.

Thank you every one I now have a starting point for this task once I finish the batch 357 max I’ve been tinkering with

Max is not mag and exceeding pressure is still a bad idea. Know your limits....
You must have miss understood I am Finnishing a batch of 50 357 maximum for my contender then this is my next project loading my unexpected 38 spl I found

The primers were stated good for 35k ish psi. I don't load max but am heavily into mag. All I'm saying is don't exceed pressures known to be safe.
