I am going to start loading for a Desert Eagle in .50 AE. I am looking for a place to start. What bullets are recommended and what powders? I was looking in my Midway book and it looks like Speer has some nice bullets for it at not a too bad price.

Any info would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thomas

I was thinking about starting a similar thread. I have been using 300 grain Rainier bullets because they are super cheap. H110 has been my go to powder for magnum rounds so that is what I have been using.

The thing that bugs me though is that I have to use an Weaver stance when shooting to keep the gun from jamming (recommended by Magnum Research). I find this slightly awkward, and also get the occasional casing to the forehead. I'm thinking about experimenting with different bullet weights and powders to see if anything helps.

I use H110 and 300 grain bullets. Speers are fine.

If you load too light, the gun will not cycle properly. Also, even with good loads, if you limp wrist it, the gun will jam. As for the casing to the forehead I would say close your eyes or duck. I don't think I've ever had a casing to the forehead though some have grazed the top of my head.
