I just got the Remington 700 aac-sd in 308 20 inch barrel and i wanted to know if anyone's used one as a hunting rifle right out of the box?

Besides the threaded barrel, i dont see how its much different than the other tens of thousands of Remington 700s used for deer hunting right out of the box...my sisters .243 Rem 700 has a 200% kill rate...first hunting trip she dropped 2 does in one shot...so yeah I think your good to go

If that is the only gun I owned I'd take it hunting. It is not the gun I'd buy for hunting. I'm sure it is a good rifle and very accurate. I used to own a very similar FN Patrol rifle with the 20" heavy barrel. It was very accurate, but at almost 10 lbs was never carried anywhere but to the range. I found I always carried my 6.5 lb Winchester or 5 lb Kimber. For 5 shots the FN was more accurate, but for 3 there was no difference. I don't plan on shooting more than 1-2 times, so I sold the FN.

I bet she shot one with another one right behind the first one. Penetrated the first one completely, and killed the second one....
