Rem 700 SPS V 243

A few years back I had a model 700VLS in 22-250 with a 26" heavy barrel and it shot excellent groups at 100 yds. I was using hand-loads my friend loaded using Nosler ballistic tips and they did quite well...I took a coyote at 330 yards from the passenger seat of my 4x4 out in a field one day and my friend made several similar kills at comparable ranges...I found that using factory loads with an 80 gr slug in my .243 gave me nearly the same ballistics when shooting my model 70 Winchester, with a little more punch...granted, this was 20 years ago and I don't know if the gun has changed much, but as a Rem fan, I would think the gun should do well...if I ever get another .243, I would be looking at another VLS and I am looking at that model in .308 for a build next year...

My previous M700V was chambered in 6mm Rem (1987ish). It was extremely accurate. I also have had a heavy barreled SPS Tactical in .308 Win, and a heavy barreled SPS Varmint in .223 Rem. They are very nice firearms for the money.

I would suggest looking into a Timney 1.5 pound trigger.
