OK guys. I'm outa my lane here. I searched to no avail. A buddy has a 722 in 300 Savage. The extractor has died. Will a 700 extractor work as a replacement? I assume that a 300S and a 308 extractor would be interchangeable due to common rim diameter as long as the 722/700 bolt faces are enough alike. Who is a good source of 722 parts? Worst case, I guess we could convert to Sako style.
Bambi awaits.....

No, a 700 extractor won't fit.
It is rivited in place and yours is free-wheeling.

Remington has went through at least three extractor re-designs through the years.

Check these from Brownell's and see if any look like the one you need to replace. http://www.brownells.com/aspx/NS/store/catsearch.aspx?k=remington+700+extractor&ps=10&si=True

Have you tried removing it and cleaning all the caked gunk out of the bolt slot it fits in?

Yep. It's toast. I've already looked at many sites including Brownells. Nothing mentioned specifically for a 722, but looks somwhat like the rivetless version for the 700.

I had to convert my 722 to use M16 extractors (after an idiot gunsmith messed up installing a Sako extractor).
