I've seen all these at Midway and Brownell's.

Problem is, they are all raised to allow use of iron sights (why, I couldn't imagine). I'll be using it on a home defense shotgun, and getting a red dot sight as low as possible is a priority. These things have an extra 1/4" to 1/2" height I'd very much like not to have.
Doesn't anyone make saddle mount scope bases that don't rise up so far? Just a simple, sturdy 1/8" rail on top of the receiver. I'd rather not drill and tap, or use exotic adhesives either.
