I am considering a shotgun for skeet for my 10 yr old son. I know what my choice would be between these two but wondered if anyone had better ideas or preferences. Thanks

Don't forget to check out Mossberg 500 and new 535 Bantams.

Fit is most important.

You might also want to look at an 11-87 youth model. Having a 10yo trying to quickly pump for that second shot could get frustrating.

I know nothing...of Chales Daly shotguns. I do however have used and have had kids use a Remington 870 20ga YN. Nice shotgun. I know it was made for youth, but I liked it also.

Mossberg's 500 20ga Bantam is also a good gun, but have found some shells it didn't like. They were just a little to short and would, when bounced a certan way when chambering a round, get the edge of the crimp under the shell lifter, jamming the action open. This is with low buget factory ammo mind you. It doesn't happen very offen, but can and does happen, atleast on the one I have.

I own a Rem Marine Special Purpose and love it. I have never heard of many problems with the Rem and there are gazillions out there.

Is $442.48 too much? It has a shorter stock and a 21" barrel with choke tubes, yeah it's a semi but hey, it's an 1100...

Otherwise, the 870 Youth Camo Turkey at wallyworld is $309, don't see the plain Express but if they can order it, it should run about $275 NIB. There are two 870 Youth Models in our safe, they are great little shotguns. One is set up with a SideSaddle, magazine extension and sling as a 3-gun shotgun, the other is box stock.
