i went to a auction last night and came home with five guns, this rem 31 in 12ga was one of them. the story is that the mans father had it build to shoot trap and skeet in the 50,s.it has a rib, cutts and a morgen pad along with a box of six pattern tubes put out by lyman. after cleaning the gun is in very good conition, serial number is 65915. i don,t think the rib, cutts or morgen pad are factory but the work is ex. i will shoot a round of trap tomorrow to see how it shoots. i would not have bid on it but the bids were stalled at 200.00,so i bid 225.00 thinking it is a remington and should be worth 225.00,well i got it and here it is. eastbank.

You are correct about these items not being factory, but that isn't necessarily a bad thing, but it wa either built for trap OR skeet, not both

either way, a good gun at a good price - go shoot and enjoy

Very nice.
The barrel seems a little short based on the pictures for a dedicated trap gun. I would lean toward this gun being intended for skeet first, with trap as an afterthought.

Yep!

I gotta go with Skeet too.

If the guy went to all that trouble to make a trap gun, he would probably have restocked it with a straigher trap stock.
