yep- and he's been relatively silent on 2A issues during his campaign.

FYI the mailchimp link is an email marketing company. Don't expect it to tell the whole truth.

Both Trump and Kasich say they support the Second Amendment, however, both have made statements supporting the banning of so called, "assault weapons." Cruz, a Constitutionalist, is the only candidate who unequivocally supports us. Trump is a loose cannon! Maybe he can become educated, but since he's going to do what he darn well pleases, I'm dubious. We would be taking a big chance with him, but can Cruz get elected?

Hi all-

Some of this is cribbed from another thread on 2A stance of presidential candidates (remember when they were in the double-digits?).

From Mr. Kasich's campaign site...

https://www.johnkasich.com/secondamendment/

NRA Grade in 2014 Gubernatorial election cycle - A- (his running mate, Mary Taylor, had an A).

He was also endorsed by the NRA that year.

However, he also has a past, wherein he did vote in favor of the AWB, but in 2013 recanted that position.

Then there's this article, which paints a somewhat nuanced picture (the quote below is part of that):

http://www.thetrace.org/2016/02/kasich-voting-record-guns/

"As governor, by contrast, Kasich’s record has been unambiguous: He has not vetoed a single pro-gun bill passed by the Republican-dominated general assembly."

Oh, by the way, if anybody is curious - from The Economist, September 5 2015, writing about Donald Trump:

"On guns, he has said, 'Look, there’s nothing I like better than nobody has them' and ' fully support and back up the Second Amendment', (which guarantees the right to bear arms)".

Staying with an Ohio theme, here's the latest on former Governor Ted Strickland, who was A+ rated by the NRA when he ran against Governor Kasich in 2010.

http://www.dispatch.com/content/stories/local/2015/12/21/strickland-switches-on-gun-rights.html

and this from 2015...

http://hotair.com/archives/2015/02/...ould-notice-him-quitting-that-anti-gun-group/

This noted, his past (on which his opponent spent a lot of time in campaign ads) didn't appear to hurt him much with the folks on the D side - he won the primary with something like 65% of the vote.

so I suffered with neutered ARs and 10 round magazines so he could "change his mind" 10 years later when it sunsetted ? :( . Forget that !

Please remember that George W. Bush was in favor of renewing the AWB. Reagan and Bush 41 were not particularly friendly to gun owners either.

The Bushs were terrible and I never voted for them because of the first AWB and no support really from the son,

Would you rather have someone that STILL believes in it?

We have Hillary that HAS FOREVER believed in the AWB and STILL believes in it (and worse).

And we have 2 Republican that have said "I used to believe in it and now I don't" and a 3rd Republican that has been pro 2A from the beginning.

But there is more to life than just 2A and I do look at a broader picture.

I'm starting to really wonder....

Hillary will do a lot of damage on a lot of different fronts. I don't doubt that at all. Sadly, she will get things done.

Would Trump be allowed to cause more damage than Hillary?

Or, if he becomes really bad, will the rest of the Govt basically make him a lame duck?

Times have changed quite a bit in the last 7 1/2 years.

The extent of the shenanigans that have been revealed going on under authority of our government I can see many people coming around to the thought that maybe our government isn't all that trustworthy after all. Where someone was on the fence before, perhaps they see better now that freedom starts with each individual, and their right to have the ability to protect themselves.

It has become all the more apparent to me as I myself age.

I fear the Republicans are not going to be able to win against the Democrats (Hillary the likely candidate) in the elections.
They need to pick up the majority women vote as well as some of the minority votes.
This is also brought out in another thread as well.
They are not doing well with a big part of the voting public and so the demographics suggest a Democrat, probably Hilary, will take the election.
I hope I'm wrong but if not.....
This is my opinion and just my opinion.

I believe a must have is a woman on the ticket. Myself I would go with Carly but that's because I'm voting the not a former raccoon ticket.

Let's just elect Hillary and get the whole "I want a black president. I want a female president. I want a president of every race, sex, and sexual orientation." out of our system. I lose my mind thinking about how Obuma and now Billary is going to be president merely because Obuma is black and Billary is a female. If the Republican Party wanted to beat Billary, we should have nominated a black female or maybe an Asian female... An Asian female would surely win since we haven't had either an Asian or female before. It's sickening that so many Americans are so out of touch with reality that that is the kind of rationale they use when placing votes. Come on America, we're not trying to collect every different type of baseball card here! I'm sick of all this acceptability and diversity nonsense being crammed down everyone's throat. It's everywhere... liberals teach that mediocrity is acceptable so long as everyone is treated the same and gets their say... That's weak. I want the toughest, the strongest, the smartest, the fastest, the best. Male, female, black, white, yellow, straight, gay... the more people push the issues and push for diversity and equal opportunity, the bigger the issues become. America worked just fine with white males as president and then someone suddenly thought we should create a solution for a problem that doesn't exist. What's next? A monkey as president? We've never had a non human as a president... Let's give that a try and see how it works!

I apologize if I got carried away. All I want is for people to just vote on who they think is the most competent and in line with what they like. If it's a monkey, great. If it's a white mail, great. If it's a female, great. But don't vote for someone simply because you think it'll be cool to have a certain type of president.

How this forum works (emphasis on WORK). READ THIS BEFORE POSTING! said:
This forum is dedicated to activism to promote the RKBA.

It is the place to share with others the actions you have taken on behalf of RKBA or to propose practical and workable actions on behalf of RKBA. It is NOT the "Complaints Department".

actions taken or proposed on behalf of RKBA means that your post must describe an action taken or propose a clear concise plan of action or present real tools on behalf of RKBA or it will be deleted.

From its start, this thread was barely on-topic for Activism, and is now a discussion of politics and the election, which isn't even on-topic for the more general THR subforums.
