On Wednesday of last week, I recieved news that my cousin, Thomas Raymond Godburn III had been found dead in his home in Jacksonville, Fla. Tommy, as he was known to friends, family and co-workers, was an aeronautical engineer employed by Grumman to supervise the logistics, design and implementation of all routine and emergency maintenance fixes and upgrades on the F-14 Tomcat.
In his role as team leader in this 20 year effort, he earned high security clearance from the Navy, was qualified as a cvilian to fly rear seat in the Tomcat, was the recipient of several Navy commendations for his work and that of his team and was the Navy's 'go to guy' whenever there was a glitch or a mishap with any F-14 at any station, land or sea, worldwide. Tommy was widely respected in the military community and loved by his friends and family members. He died of a massive heart attack at age 52. He leaves behind two lovely children, a fiancee and many other family members that will miss him dearly. I ask for your prayers for those he leaves behind.
