I have a Remington 03-A3 dated 9-43. The marking behind the front site are R A and below the emblem there is 9-43.

The serial numbers start with 408. We find no other specific markings, and the stock is not like the stocks of any pictures I can find out there.

It has a high cheek rest for a right handed shooter and the stock grip is longer or more like a pistol grip than the pictures we've found. It appears to belong to the gun but this one also does not have wood over the top of the barrel as most pictures of these guns do nor does it appear to ever have had it.

It has been sporterized. The stock replaced for sure. Has a scope or sporting iron sights been installed? That was a usual thing.
No offense back when surplus rifles were cheap and common, but these days they are all "collector's items" and the milsurp buffs get the vapors at the sight of a gun fixed up by Bubba.

No scope, it has an elavated rear sight, which I think I seen in the pictures of the others. I guess if the stock was replaced it was sometime ago, it isn't anywhere near new.

Thanks!

Same Rifle

Must be a common rifle. I have the same model 1903A3 bought from the CMP last year. Same barrel date. Close to that same serial number.

I'm looking for a flat-top bladed front sight like one I saw on a rifle at Camp Perry last year. The owner said it was a USMC front sight option. The guy gave me a source but the source was dead when I checked it. Anyone seen this front sight or have any ideas where to get one?
