Hi guys!

New problems, or thoughts. I bought myself a DAVES METAL WORKS EASYLOADER https://www.brownells.se/epages/Sverige.sf/sv_SE/?ObjectID=71386 and now I've been looking at installing it. But, I'm not really happy about how it will appear when done. The "fork" will protrude and may be cought in something. When looking at how things seems to work I got a "bright idea" that I thought someone could talk me out of before I do somthing stupid.

When pushing the release button to be able to push shells in to the magazine tube, the carrier latch is moved out of the way so the carrier is allowed to travel up.

Now I figure if I just cut of the end that goes in to the hole (encircled below) in the carrier latch...

...there will be no need to press the release button! Thus I can just press on the carrier when loading the gun. Is this a good idea, why not?
I suppose that if it was a really good idea the guys at Remington would have figured it out and done so from factory. However, I don't understand what would be the big problem.

Good: Easy to load, no need to think about the release in order to load.
Bad: May accidentally release the bolt if in open position by touching the carrier.

Thoughts on this?

The carrier latch does more than just unlock the carrier. It also trips the bolt release. When you fire the gun, the shell being ejected from the magazine trips the release. The 1100 is designed to have the bolt lock open every shot, unless a shell (or your thumb) activates the bolt release. You're considering modifying the wrong part of the button, IIRC. Some people have filed back the tab so the bolt never locks back, because they were having false locks when shooting quickly. But I'm not sure if your idea will actually make it so the carrier is always unlocked or whether it will just prevent the bolt from locking back, ever. Proceed with caution.

IMO the Dave's EZloader is a good piece of kit, and if you aren't shooting 3-gun or something where you need to load a lot and quickly, there's no need to modify the carrier button in the first place, particularly if you're concerned about looks.

Thank you. I see now I was a bit unclear about what to remove.

I am considering to remove the end of the tab that is part of the carrier, nothing will be done to the carrier latch (if anything is done). So there would in that case never be that the carrier latch locked the carrier.

Thus, if my thinking is correct, nothing else should happen than that the carrier is allways free to go up. The release button would still move the carrier latch when depressed so I'm kind of convinced that the bolt lock would work as in original, i.e. I'd still have to press the release button to release the bolt.

Hmmm... Maybe danger here. If I was to do this I'd be able to put shells into the magazine with the bolt locked (open) and if I, during loading, happen to touch the release button the bolt will fly forward with the carrier in an upper position which would mean....?
