I consider myself a fairly competent person mechanically and I have done some good work generally as a home gunmith/tinkerer. this thing, however, is kicking my butt.

I cannot get the carrier/release button roll pin back through without mangling it. I finally got it through to hold the easy loader and carrier and spring together but now with the partially bent pin the easy loader is binding in its travel, which it wasn't doing when I was fitting it. And the thought of driving this buggered up pin out and trying to get another one in while trying to keep the carrier holes, spring, and ez loader holes all in alignment and trying to hammer the pin through without a flat or secure surface to brace against makes me want to tear my hair out. I'm on my way to the hardware store in a fruitless pursuit of a roll pin that will work.

I also stupidly didn't follow my own rules about disassembling and reassembling springy bits in a large plastic bag or at least an enclosed space and launched the carrier release plunger and spring across the room. Luckily I found them with the help of my daughter LOL.

I also notice that since I installed the choate mag tube extension and clamp the POI is like 6 inches Low at 15 yards. I have to cover the top of the plate with the bead to get center hits. As I loosened the clamp to slide it further back I could feel the barrel moving lower.

Maybe the gods of shotgunning are trying to stop me.

Another question while we are on the subject. Mine is a magnum but I have installed a 2 3/4 inch barrel. I understand that this can possibly cause problems because the magnum carrier assembly or the whatever Is heavier and can be accelerated too quickly or something. Can a knowledgeable person please confirm or deny this and if so what can be done about it and how big of a problem is it? I have no use for any 3 inch magnum shotgun with a an integral full choke so I will never shoot this gun with a 3 inch magnum barrel in the foreseeable future. Is it necessary to change out the mechanism parts or will it be okay and useable working as a 2 3/4" gun now?

Well while we're waiting for knowledgeable people... I called Dave of dave's metal works and he is a super nice guy. He's sending me some replacement pins and I was able to ask him a couple questions about fit and function. Check out his stuff, he's a very nice guy and customer service is awesome. He wouldn't let me pay for postage or the pins.

I went to the trouble of installing the excellent Dave's Metal Works' Easy Loader on my 1100's carrier... file fitting, cold blueing, the works. I almost! destroyed my roll pin when driving it in during assembly... I had just purchased roll pin punches and I used a lighter-weight shop hammer. Still, the end of the pin against the punch did want to mushroom slightly... tough install, that, but the rig worked like a charm!

So! Weeks later, a piece in the Remington carrier linkage! broke off where it was peened over a large hollow axle of sorts (a slight, isolated corrosion issue in that part of the trigger group of the 40-yr-old gun I had purchased used)... I didn't have the heart to go through the Easy Loader installation process again because I had on hand a brand new Remington Competition carrier assembly that AI&P had sent along when I ordered FlexTab Conversion Kits for my two Wingmasters. One of J.D.'s shop helpers had tossed the wrong carrier into one of the kit packages... AI&P quickly sent out another and told me to keep the 1100 Comp carrier. Can't beat that customer service! What's a feller to do? I installed it.

Glad to hear you were successful in your endeavor, and kudos! to Dave's Metal Works level of CS.

I shot a couple 10-round blasts as fast as I could pull the trigger and it runs great. I can't believe how much softer this thing shoots than the Benelli. Now I need to figure out POI and chokes. It has a fixed full choke barrel now. Not ideal.
