Hey all, yesterday I fell in love with a pristine Remington 141 (35 Rem) at the local shop and had to bring it home. For $250 what's not to love, right?

The internals and rifling look like it rolled off the line yesterday, but it was made in Feb 1938.

Since I don't own a 35 rem I picked up a box of Lever Revolution because I like it in my 45/70 and it was the least expensive they had. I figured I'd shoot that until I sourced something less expensive online.

I have read that the 141 action does not hold up well to some of the hotter 35 Rem loads, and also that the longer Hornady hangs a little in the 141 action. (have not shot mine yet to verify)

Anyone with experience care to share their thoughts? I can find out on my own how they feed, but I certainly don't want to buy more Hornady if they are too hot for the action, if that's the case I'll spend a little more and stock up on some core-loktd.

Thanks

If I were you I would call Hornady and present them with your concerns. Right off the bat the .35 has more bolt thrust than any .30-30 so your concerns may not be unfounded.

The new Hornady ammo is SAAMI specs so no worry there. The OAL may NOT work in your 141, I'll crank some thru my 141 this weekend and check it out.I'd be inclided to think it is OK as I shoot reloads with Speer 180 pointed bullets in mine crimped to the canalure.

Congrats on getting the all time slick brush gun, the 141!
