Does any know if Remington is making 17HMR ammunition any more? I haven't seen any for about 3years now?
My rifle shoots that much better than the Hornaday ammo. Right now I am using my last box and would like to get some more. :uhoh:
Any info you guys have is greatly appreciated.:)

Thanks for the info guys but at 30 cents a round, I will be shooting something else.
Note that there were no bids on that ammo!

fwiw; Remington didn't actually make the 17hmr ammo, but like Federal, Winchester, and Hornady, they re-labeled the CCI manufactured ammo that uses the Hornady or CCI bullets. The CCI ammo is head-stamped to whoever if marketing the ammo. Ditto the color of the tip insert.

Accuracy and velocity differences are what you will see from lot-to-lot variation.
That's why the CCI ammo tends to be a tad bit cheaper at the retailers.
(yes, I've got examples of all four of the above mentioned).

I have this rifle now for close to ten years. Federal, Winchester,CCI and Hornaday have all been tried. The Federal ammo in FMJ performs the closest to the Remington. But you can't find that any more either. I realize that they are all manufactured by the same outfit. But they must be loaded to different specs because the POI of the Remington is an inch or more higher than the others. I also understand that there could be variations from lot to lot.
What I have seen is that even when the Remington ammo was used 3 other rifles the scopes had to be adjusted down when using Remington ammo. I don't believe the lot number had much to do with it because the 2 occasions that it happened were on hunting trips that were several years apart, and ammo was purchased several times from different places. The rifles were CZ, Anshutz, Marlin and Savage.
This leads me to believe that the Remington is loader hotter than the others. And no, I've never run them over a chronograph. Sorta thought what's the use, can't really change nothing, so I just never did it.

I saw a significant accuracy difference by moving from 17 grain bullets to the 20 grain Hornady. Your mileage may vary.

if you look up on Google and look up .17hmr manufacturers, there are several articles, they show CCI makes almost all of the .17hmr ammo and relabels it to other companies, so it should all be the same...cant see anything affecting accuracy other than some are 17 some are 20 grain and different type of tips.

While CCI does make all the 17HMR (except Winchester), there is something 'different' about the Remington 17gr rounds compared to Hornady or CCI's offerings. I found that the Remington loads shot better in my rifle as well after extensive testing. The only thing I can attribute this to is that CCI loads each 'brand' to differing specs for each 'manufacturer'.
