Among all the reviews and range reports I found when trying to choose a new tactical rifle the info was mixed. With match ammo some would shoot MOA out of the box, never found a report of them shooting under an inch, and some would manage much worse. It seems they are about like the basic SPS-V. You pays ya money ... you takes ya chances. With the 20" barreled VTR, the Savage 10PC (Precision Carbine) was generally considered more accurate and more consistent when hot. With the 24" barreled VTR the Savage 10FP models and the T/C Precision Hunters were more consistently accurate, cold bore and hot. And across all the reviews the stock is considered crap.
YMMV. If you want one for the novelty, get it and just be prepared to change the stock and maybe have the action trued if it isn't a shooter.
