Hi everyone, new to this site.

I got a Remington 597 in .22lr and have put over 2000 rounds through it. I took it apart to clean it and I am wondering how to take the firing pin out of the bolt to clean it. It looks like there is a pin holding it in, but it doesn't move when I push on it.

Any one know how to remove it?

Thanks! I appreciate it!

I imagine a pin punch and hammer would be in order.

However, why don't you leave it alone and just buy a can of Gun-scrubber or WD-40?
Just hose it out with the spray can tube, then blow it out with compressed air.

After thinking about it, I think I should take your advice. After all, I don't really feel safe using a punch and hitting it with a hammer and risk ruining it lol. I'm just going to leave it alone and get a can of Gun-Scrubber.

Thanks for your help!
