To supplement one of the other recent hot threads: which one do you prefer? Do not be a sissy; make a choice and vote for one. Please use the pole provided. Thanks.

For my purposes, controlled-round feed is an option I prefer, as well as a positive safety that works on the bolt mechanism itself; I'd rather have exactly the firearm I want than a relatively similar but cheaper version that isn't.

I'll take the M70.

Recently an article ran in a large production hunting magazine by a very well known writer that diminished the M70. This individual tried to foster the idea that it was "commonly known" to be a 2MOA rifle at best.

1st I'd heard of it.

Very first centerfire,Rem 700 LH as well.Then,only avail in .270,.30-06,or 7 Rem mag.(us leftys get a raw deal..) The only other lefty option(that I was aware of) ,was the way too expensive(for me) Roy W.Still have that 7 mag,and maintain a"soft spot" for the big green for that reason.

I have two M 70's one a pre 64, controlled feed, the other a push feed & one M 700 . I generally prefer the M 70 I like the more rounded bolt handle knob, it fits my hand and rotates in the palm of my hand better than that little flattened, checkered Remington model. That's a minor point othewise they are all good accurate shooters..

Fella's;

My model 70 is a left hand bolt. I don't understand what being a southpaw has to do with it. In any case, I'm still boycotting Remington since the 5mm fiasco. I have a full LHB battery without a single model 700 in it.

900F

CB900F,Yep..Know that now,Have bought & shot nearly all "normal uh hem" righty guns since.We(leftys) do have to learn to adapt,if we're going to enjoy all that's available.Still have that soft spot though.
Aren't they "bringing" 5mm back? Not sure,thought I read/heard something about it.

Rem 700 CDL SF 30-06. Fits me better than the Whinny. Only reason I chose it. As far as I am concerned both are great guns and very close in accuracy.

Which Win 70?

I don't have any experience with the new (as in South Carolina) model to have an opinion.

The last couple years, maybe longer than that, coming out of Connecticut were pretty much crap from a QA standpoint. I'd rather a Mosin that works over a gun that doesn't feed anytime.

But looking at one that actually works I prefer the Winchester. It has an incomparably better safety. I like the trigger design better.
