Remington 700 .308 26" heavy barrel, LH, composite stock w/ one swivel mount at front. Jewelled bolt and Leupold VX-1 4-12x40.

Looks barely shot, but used. They want $699. Fair?

Depends on model.

It could be a terrible deal or an excellent deal depending on the model...

What does it look like?

Based upon what I've gleaned from Google searches, it's a VS rifle. The stock is greyish, as is the barrel, like it's parked. I examined the bolt, which was jewelled, and it looked like it had only been test-fired. As I said before, one swivel mount, not two.

From the description, sounds like a Remington Varmint Synthetic (VS).

It is a similar gun to the (Varmint Synthetic Fluted) VSF and that gun costs about $900. Plus a VX-I 4-12 costs over $200...

So I would say if the gun is in good condition then it is a good price.

pretty decent, at WORST...steal at best. cheapest rem700 i know of is the plain jane sps which runs about 500 new i think. a leupold scope like that is probably 200-250, so not a bad deal....could be great just depends on what 700 it is.

Can you get a few rounds through it? That will settle it.

I met a seller at the local range ( to look at a potential purchase) I told him if it shoots well I will take it... shot 5 Match grade rounds through it and got ~.55" at 100 yards! That is my new Rem700 vsf 223 (only cost $500 w/out scope) WOuld be 1100 new.(plus a case)
