Not a regular Remington model, it is made in small quantities for one of Remington's jobbers. The only thing "mil spec" about it is, it has the same "type" of rifling (5R) as the M24 rifle.
Most rifling consists of an even number of grooves, typically 4 or 6. The 5R rifling consists of 5 grooves with a 110 degree radius at the intersection between the lands and the grooves, which provides a better seal and typically reduces fouling. Boots Obermeyer pioneered the development of this type of rifling in this country. It is currently used by Obermeyer, Mike Rock, and Border Barrels that I know of.
Rem. 700 5r mil spec is an excellent rifle it shoots like a dream specially if your
using Sierra 175 HPBT Matchking. I should know I own one. I haven't used it that much since its too darn cold up here in Canada. Looking forward to spring so I can shoot it a lot.
Like some of the guys say, the rifling as more of a smooth radius for easier
cleaning. They say the rifling is the same as the Mod24 that the U.S. Army
uses. Its a limited run rifle just a few hundreds made a year wont find it on Rem. web. site.
