I bought a remington 700 sps this Sunday. Now I would like to adjust the triger pull off of the 8 pound mark. The documents that came with the gun say that it has a "x mark pro" trigger I do believe. I know it says it is 100% gun smith adjustable. So I am wondering just how hard it is to adjust. I have looked on line and found there to be two models at least. Mine does not adjust under the trigger guard by the bolt release. So how do I adjust this?

The video Is the externally adjustable trigger I have the internal trigger. It says 100% adjustable by a gunsmith. I wonder if it has to be stoned or filed to be any lighter. It is crystal sharp with no creep or drag. It is just about a couple pounds heavy. I broke down and pulled the action apart last night. And the trigger assembly has two adjusment screws that I can see on on the front side of the trigger and one on the back side both on on the trigger assembly block. I am guees on is for weight and the other for length of pull. But I couldn't find any info to confirm this

All right.

Sounds just like the three-screw trigger they have always used.

Try this:

Back off the "trigger pull" screw first to take weight off the spring, and see if that gets you where you want to be.

If the trigger pull is otherwise good, don't change the sear engagement or over-travel screws.

Be expecially careful to do all the safety checks when you get done.

No it only has two adjustments that I can find. The trigger pulls is not un bearable and is crisp. But the over pull scew is not there. I found the other two filled with sealent. But no overpull.

Do you think you could get a couple pictures of your trigger? i thought i was familiar with the 700 triggers, but ive never seen one that didnt have weight, engagement, and overtravel adjustments.

yeah i can

I will get picks when I pull it apart to clean it after I go shooting tomarrow. I don't have a photo bucket account or any place to host them but I will figure it out by then.

I shot it on sat. And it turns out that even though the trigger feels heavy when dry firing, it is a tack driving rifle. I used it to hit soda can and clay pigieons at 125 yards every shot. I didn't miss a single shot although that e and 400 yard shots did give me some trouble. But it was windy so that could have been the issue.
