Before deer season last year,my cousin brought me his Remington 7400 in 30-06. He said that the trigger pull was much harder than he thought it should be or more than he remembered it being the last time he shot it. I cheched it with a tp guage and it was breaking around 6#. I tore it down and it was just as I suspected ,it was immaculate! No crud,no dirt, no nuthin(my cousin is anal when it comes to cleaning his guns). I dissassembled the trigger group all the way down to the trigger pin and discovered that the trigger would hardly move on the pivot pin.I didn't see any damage so I drifted out the pin. It was heavily rusted on the pin and inside the trigger pin hole. A light buffing of both and reassembled using Remoil on all parts. Voila! Trigger pull was just under 4#(this is a HUNTING rifle) he was very happy but perplexed about the rust. You would have thought that I had accused him of neglecting his gun. Anyone else have this problem with 742,7400,7600,1100 et.al. triggers?
