I got a Remington 742CDL in 30-06 in a recent deal and have someone interested in buying it. anyone have an idea on value? Id say its 95-100% condition.
Ive looked on gunbroker and they are all over the place. from what I gather this is the deluxe carbine edition.

Thanks!

Pictures? They usually sit around the $500 mark at most shops and gun shows around here.

It's all dependent on how many rounds went through it because the 742's and 7400's both had problems with wearing out the bold guide rail after a thousand rounds or so. If that rail piece is messed up, the gun isn't worth burning it for firewood.

I don't know the round count, but I shot 10 rounds out of it on Saturday and it functions fine. SN puts it between 75'-78' according to Remingtons website. where is the rail? I assume it is in the receiver? what issues does the wear cause?

Well when it comes to mine it wont reset the firing pin. So chamber a round, pull trigger and it fires. Ejects old round beautifully, loads next round squeeze trigger. Click, frown. But when using it like a bolt action its a great rifle.

If you open up the action and look directly above where the bolt would be when closed, that is apparently where the issues happen. It is supposedly the one huge flaw of that series (besides no decent non-factory mags...) If that rail is worn down, the thing won't cycle a single round. Google: Remington 742/7400 jamming problem and you will come up with more than you probably care to read.

On the plus side, yours looks pretty good. I'd estimate somewhere around $500-$550 because it hasn't been abominized with a sloppy scope job that way too many Bubbas do with these things.

Thanks for the help guys, the receiver is tapped for weaver mounts and there are screws filling the holes and they are straight inline with the sights.
I really like the rifle but need the $$$ for other things, mainly Ammo!
