Remington 870 Forend Assembly Nut

I would like to remove the fore-end from the rest of the assembly in order to do some painting. It looks like I will have to remove the fore-end nut and that may need a special tool. Can anyone guide me on how to remove that nut?

They make a special forend wrench for the job.

You can improvise like I did and use some channel lock clamps and 2 allen wrenches to achieve the same results.

Just skip painting the action bars, if that's what you're worried about. They're gonna wear anyway. Trying to get a fore-end off/on without the right tool can be bad juju sometimes.
