How long ago did Remington stop putting "Wingmaster" on the side of their shotguns? Or do they still do on some models?

The reason I ask is that I have recently seen two older Remington 870's, both labeled "Wingmaster", both marked for 2 3/4" shells. The first was in NICE shape and very smooth. The other was in rough shape, but also very smooth. Oh, and both had extended magazine tubes.

Thanks.

TTBOMK, Frosty, they never stopped. Before the Express, all 870s except for trap and skeet models and a few marked "Sportsman" were marked Wingmaster. Even the riot models are marked so.

What are they asking for them?

Dave,

Both are being offered for $250. The one in my dealer's store would probably cost me $225. This is the rougher one, lots of surface wear. It also has a pistol grip, with a folding stock. I'm not particularly thrilled by the PG, but i figure I could replace it with a standard synthetic stock and sell the PG to some tactical-wannabe for a small profit.

The other, IIRC, was in really nice shape with a standard wood stock. I'd probably offer $225 there and see what they see.

I just found it curious to find two 870 Wingmasters with extended magazines so close to one another.

If that is the underfolder with the wire frame stock OR the sidefolder with the stamped sheetmetal stock and you buy the shotgun let me know. I am looking for the Remington supplied folder, either type will do. I will supply you with a stock to replace it or purchase it outright. Thanks.

$225 IMO, Frosty, is a tad high for a beater with PG folder, but not outrageous. I'd sell the folder in a heartbeat, but not to someone I liked.

OTOH, A nice old WM in NRA Good to Excellent condition is worth more than $225,san accessories
.
What barrel length is on this?

As for extensions, they've been around for a while. LL Bean sold 10 shot extensions for the A-5 and Model 11 Remington prior to WWII. So did Pachmyer. The market segment was crow hunters and LE.

No offense taken on the tactical stuff, I hate it too.

When but a wee sailor and in my first armorers billet I had several 870's that uncle gave me to watch over with the factory folding stocks. I would like to have one for nostalgic reasons is all. I will put it on a rag of a wingmaster and grab it up occasionally for some fond memories.

Thanks for "dibs".
