My friend is going to sell me a shotgun he aquired a few years back but we dont know its value.I want to give him a fair price but dont want to get ripped off either. This is a 16 guage in very good condition, and is basically a browning A-5 made by remington.I cant find any info any where searching the net with as little info as I have .Any help would be apreaciated.

Sounds like a Model 11.
Going rate will probably range from $300 to $400 depending on condition and location. That is for a base model SG. Vent rib barrel will fetch a bit more. Probably close to another $100.

Engraved, Tournament, Premier, and Riot can bring more. Sometimes, much more. Close to 3K for a 11F Premier Engraved.

The Model 11 was made from 1911 to 1948. Aprox. 300,000 produced.

MSRP for the trap grade was... are you sitting down?.. $42.50
Premier MSRP was a sticker-shocking $125.
A vent rib bbl was a $13 upgrade.

When Belgium fell to the Germans, Remington manufactured the guns for Browning. I can't guess at the value of this varient.

How does it compare to this one? John

www.gunsamerica.com/guns/976626372.htm

$400 - - "St. Louis Browning 16 gauge A5 American. 28 inch modified choke with "3 shot" magazine. Has a matted barrel and receiver. This gun is not new in the box, but is still a great example."

Remington Model 11 in average condition around my part of the woods are $200 to $250 for the 16 ga.

Well used but still good ones can be had for under $200 - It would take a near mint to mint one to get $300 or above.
