Folks,
In the Jan. 2010 issue of American Rifleman, a new home defense 12 ga shell is described. It is a Remington product, and it comes with a duplex mixture of both #2 and #4 shot in the same shell.
I am not sure I understand the rationale behind putting two shot sizes in the same shell. If concern is #2 will over-penetrate, then why not use #4 only and not a duplex. If worried about the lower stopping power of #4, then why not use only #2 and not a duplex.
So, what gives, what is the rationale here?
