Gents,
I have several of the humpbacks, two 1950's A5's 12s (Belgian), an A5 12mag (Japanese) and a old Model 11 in 12ga (1920's, safety inside the trigger guard).
Shooting skeet, I use a A5 12ga w/ Mod bore (Belgian), but use the Model 11 from time to time as it has the CYL bore.
But I love the speed-feed perk on the Browning, so I go back to it more. Looking at the two, it appears the split loading gate is the only difference between them.
So here's my question: Could I retrofit an A5 split load gate and 'enable' the Model 11 to speed-feed like the A5? How difficult a smith job would this be? And is there any difference in the load gate for a Light 12 to a Reg 12?
Also, the springs for the A5 light are a drop in replacement for the Model 11, right? Mine has the original square wire recoil spring and it's pretty short compared to the A5. Might be time to replace it, no?
Anybody do this? Think of it?
Thanks in advance!!
