Remington Model 5 rinfire

I looked at a few of them a couple of days ago. They aren't bad, they are all made at Zastava. But from the fit and finish standpoint and the fact that they are imported and rebranded, the price seems way out of line.

The lower end CZ 452s are much nicer for about the same price.

Too bad they don't just reintroduce the 581 or 2 with a walnut stock, instead of this one with a stock looking like it belongs on a Pakistani made knife.

We have some older Remington 22's which proves Remington can build a nice 22 and and a newer 452 American which is nice too.

Cracked Butt is correct 452's are some of if not the best buy right now in a 22 bolt.

I waited to buy a Zastava .223 when I heard Remington was stealing them from Charles Daly. Boy was that a mistake. No more nice walnut stocks or left hand rifles
I have been or was a Remington fan for 50 years but the last few new rifles we have purchased are from their competitors.

My current hope is that Remington's new owners will turn things around.
rant, rant

My 581 is a rifle that I'll never sell. In its day it was cheap, nicely made, and very accurate.

Now if they could build a 541 for around the same price as the model-5, they'd have a winner.

Thanks for tip, Gents !

Would definitely agree the 581/2 rifles are sweet. I can't recall many .22 rifles that were anywhere near as nice without spending about twice as much.
Oh well... like the song says... "Another piece of America gone." :(

The model 5 is the same as a Charles daly superior which can still be found nib at a cheaper price than the rebranded remington.
