I am really wanting to build a CZ 527 on the .20 VarTarg cartridge but the lack of factory ammo and brass is frustrating. Then all of a sudden their is some hope at the end of the tunnnel...but I thought I would ask for some help from fellow THR's.

This morning I saw on the Remington web site that they are taking a poll on what cartridge they should release or reintroduce; 17AH, 20vartarg, 6x45, 22br.

I personally would love to see the .20 VarTarg as it looks to be one of the most cost effective varminting/targeting small caliber centerfire rounds. (Sadly no one makes brass or ammo yet so you have to roll your own...almost literally.

It is simply a necked down .221 Fireball to .20. You then have the plethora of all the bullet selection of all those for the .204 Ruger. (Which I have and love) but it only uses 15-18 grn powder and pushes 3800 fps. I.e no barrel burn and 30-40 consecutive shots are possible without barrel heating or inaccuracy do to it. Anyway, take a peak and vote and if you don't have a dog in the fight, please vote VarTarg. :D

Thx so much!

I voted for the 6x45 because it is the one I would buy if I had to pick one. But I will never buy one of those unless I get a great deal so...

My vote goes to a 22 size rifle In a premium quality In 5.7 fn I think that little pistol cartrage whould make a super Rifle caliber

I voted 6 BR, but 6x45mm was a close second. The 6mm and 6.5mm calibers promise so much but don't have all that many popular choices.

I voted for the Vartarg. Not many other have.LOL

6X45 30.85%
17 Hornet 24.92%
6mm BR 22.80%
22 BR 13.58%
20 Vartarg 7.822%

Total votes: 3017

Yeah 220 Swift...it's not looking good for the VarTarg.

It's all good, thx. :bthumb: Reality is they all have their merits and would be nice to have. I think all my posting of this on several boards did, was solicit more votes mainly for the other calibers especially the 6x45. I forgot how many AR guys are here and TFL...not there is anything wrong with them. (I too have a derivative.) Admittedly, I'm not real surprised. Bottom line is the AR guys and that demand will most likely win out. There just aren't as many small caliber varminters as there are AR'ers in general. (Yes some times they are one and the same.) I think most just are less informed of what the VarTarg is and can do....even in an AR. If folks really understood what it is, what it can do and the attributes of it,it might be different. Oh well. Either it will, or it won't as I'm just now getting set up to roll my own...it would just be nice to have some OEM brass.

Cheers,
